Our firm seeks to provide excellent client service through caring, knowledgeable, professional staff. We believe we have the best personnel of any law firm around, and we hope you think so, too.
Richard A. Courtney, CELA directs the Elder Law, Estate Planning and Special Needs Planning practice sections of Courtney Elder Law Associates.
Rick is an experienced elder law and estate planning attorney, a former law school professor, and a frequent writer and speaker for professional and community groups on many elder law and special needs topics.
Scanlon F. Minton is an Associate Attorney with the firm. She has practiced elder law and estate planning exclusively since her graduation from law school in 2008, and she handles a variety of conservatorship, probate and planning matters for clients.
Mr. Courtney’s Legal Assistant, Ginger Parmentier, manages the appointment calendar and much of the on-going communications with clients pertaining to their legal matters. She prepares legal documents and coordinates certain in-office functions, such as signing conferences for wills, powers of attorney or similar documents.
Our firm is the first in Mississippi to employ a full-time geriatric care manager, Leigh Leverette. Formerly a Medicaid Case Manager with the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, her job as Elder Care Coordinator includes identifying financial and caregiver resources for clients and maintaining regular communications with clients in our special needs planning and Life Care Planning programs. A professional geriatric care manager, she conducts in-home and in-facility assessments and develops care plans for clients with chronic health needs at home or in assisted living or skilled nursing facilities.
Gus is Rick Courtney’s 95 lb. Golden Retriever. A Certified Therapy Dog, his job is to patrol the office hallways in search of head-pats on occasions when he comes to work, and to bring joy to nursing home residents and children when he visits care facilities and charity walks with Courtney. Gus loves his work.
